The Office computer crashed,
Valuable files lost.
Adding to the agony,
Is a new computer's cost.
The blinding lights,
The blaring horns,
Annoyance manifested,
In several forms.
The new guard recognizes,
Neither me nor my car.
Deaf he is, dumb I am,
In the 150 dB noise from the nearby bar.
Power cut again,
The melancholic song.
The Inverter beeps, goes out.
Lies ahead a night, dark and long.
Sound outside,
Thoughts of thieves.
Or just the drunk neighbour,
Kicking everything he perceives.
I open the door,
There he stands,
Mouth in the trash can,
Make-up of coloured bands.
Sees me,
Comes near,
Wags his tail,
Absolutely no fear.
Looks like he's ready,
To pay me in cash,
For whatever feast he had,
Of my trash.
I look at him,
A happy lot,
Despite the trash,
And the drought.
What a world he lives in,
Pathetic, by standards of mine,
Yet happier than me,
Licking broken bottles of wine.
A lot better than him,
Materially I am,
Yet I find faults in freshly prepared food,
And he licks away happily, last night's half-eaten jam.
He forces me to probe within,
Look for what causes the gloom,
A whole house to relax,
Then why the corner of a room?
He inspires me to plant,
Some seeds inside,
Try to grow the plant of joy,
If you fail,
Be happy atleast you tried.
Joy lies,
In the smallest of things,
You should dance,
While your heart sings.
Happiness is all inner,
A lesson well taught,
By a dog.
Find joy in whatever little you've got. And remember to thank Him for that precious little.
